IN HONOR OF MOTHERS DAY // MATERNAL HEATLH

beautiful-thing-you-have-madeWith Mother’s Day just around the corner we wanted to take the opportunity to talk a little bit about maternal health and this beautiful print you can purchase to help the women of the Edna Adan University Hospital in Somaliland, Africa.  We so often take for granted how lucky we are to have a wonderful maternal healthcare system available to us when most women around the world do not. Here’s a little blurb from the hospitals website: ”The health of the people of Somaliland is among the worst in Africa, with one of the highest Maternal and Infant Mortality rates in the world. Every year, one baby in eight dies in infancy while nearly 4000 Somali women die in childbirth. This tragedy can be attributed in large part to the long civil war which brought about the death or departure of nearly all of the country’s trained health care professionals.”

You can  help by purchasing this print, (great mothers day gift! :) spreading the word on your own social networks or by donating money directly to Edna Adan. Every woman deserves proper maternal healthcare so lets do our part.

Man oh man these are just so cute! Later this week we’ll be offering some fun eco Easter diy’s of our own so stay tuned! For now, enjoy creating these terrariums with the kids! (fun classroom project too!)

WE’RE BACK!

We’re thrilled to announce that the B Nature blog is back in full force! We’ve got some wonderful posts up our sleeves and thought the Holiday season would be the perfect time.  We’re working on our annual Holiday Gift Guide – you can see the past two year’s HERE and HERE. Holiday recipes, fun things for baby and big kid and lots of eco, green goodness in between! Thanks for sticking with us while we were working through some technical things. It’s good to be back!

Working Hard!

We’re working on a new site and are excited to show you all we’ve been up to! In the meantime the blog will continue to run so make sure to check in for posts on food, kids, parenting, eco living and green goodies. And don’t forget to connect with us on facebook and twitter too!

Floral prints!

We don’t talk much on the B Nature blog about adult fashion but with the summer season, flowers a bloom and this heat we’ve got floral prints on our minds. Aren’t these pants from ASOS so great? We love the simple white tee with them! Have any of you ventured out of your normal comfortable jeans into something a little more fun like these?

HAPPY 4TH (a few days late!)

How did everyone celebrate!? I was actually traveling and got to spend the day in Washington DC. Kind of the most perfect place to be on the 4th of July.  Was nice to see everyone so patriotic and proud and the countless firework shows around the city certainly helped too!

Camp Time or Relax Time?

School’s out, now it’s time to think abut what to do with the kids all summer! What’s your approach? No activities, structured scheduling for a TOTAL break from the school year, or the pool, camps and classes? Maybe a combination of both? Often times parents feel overwhelmed with the idea of having your school age children with you all day, five days a week.  I think, take the opportunity to spend some real time with your kids ( if of course you stay home with your children) and explore new things together. Also know that down time is okay. Kids need that. Don’t feel like you have to have every second of the week scheduled and planned.  With all of that said, what are your kids up to this summer?!
